By Jason Nolan - The Ten Commandments are an archive of sacred principles relating to God's guide on morals and idolatry. These biblical beliefs serve an essential and fundamental function in Judaism as well as many sects of Christianity.

They teach to praise the one God and to stop work on the Sabbath. They also prohibit any kinds of idolatry, infidelity, heresy, manslaughter and thieving. There are multiple variations of the ten commandments as they are examined and understood differently by the many types religious groups.

The Ten Commandments is referenced two times in the Hebrew Bible. As written in the Exodus, God engraved The Ten Commandments on 2 tables of stone and gave them on Mount Sinai to Moses.

It is surprising that many Christians and Jews claim to know The Commandments though either do not know all of them or have some completely wrong. Conveniently we have written the contents of the New Living Translation variation of the Ten Commandments List.

They are: 1. "Don't honor any other gods except me." 2. "Do not create idols of any type" 3. "Do not violate the name of your God" 4. "Do not forget to respect the Sabbath day by keeping it holy..." 5. "Love your mom and dad" 6. "Don't kill." 7. "Don't engage adultery." 8. "Do not steal." 9. "Don't testify deceitfully opposite your neighbor." 10. "Don't desire your neighbor's possessions."
