Resin Anchors For Heavy Duty Fixings

By Shannon L Smith - For the high load fitting over the concrete surface, anchors and bolts are employed. They provide durable and stronger fitting and are heavily used in construction projects. Multiple sizes and designs are available for anchor bolts in market.

The small-sized anchor bolts can be used to fit a shelf for heavy load while, there are large ones best for applications in which heavy load is applied from various directions. For instance, a fence post is fitted over the concrete floor using the large anchors and bolts with metal brackets.

In this application, when the high wind is applied to the fence post, it will move the fence post in opposite direction causing the pressure over the bolts attached on the ground. The anchor bolts are strong enough to withstand the heavy load of wind.

Anchors and bolts simple to employ for any function. They comprise of two parts, simply, anchors and the bolts. For fixing using anchor bolts, drill a hole on required surface and insert anchor in it. Now, place fixing (fence post in above case, for example) and tighten the bolt. Don't forget to keep the fixing upright till the bolt is tightened. Using these fixing tools is far better than screws and rawls.

If extreme strength of anchor fixing is required in any project like in building or skyscraper projects. Engineers don't use simply the anchors and bolts because they are not enough to withstand for ultimate strength fixing. This is where chemical or resin anchor comes to handle the job.

'Resin anchor' is a term generally used for tightening the bolts, steel studs and anchorage which are bond in to the masonry or concrete surface. The resin based adhesive is used to place inside the desired surface hole. These chemical or resin anchors are used in high load applications.

Resin anchor is basically a two part mix which is resin itself and the hardener. They both are mixed to make a solution which becomes extremely hard after few minutes. It is injected after mixing into the drilled hole of the desired surface and later anchor and bolt is placed. The resulting bond is stronger than the base wall itself. Yet, it is obvious to keep the fixing upright till the resin gets hard.

Resin anchor can be obtained from construction and tools shops. They can be applied in many manners to provide various levels of strength and durability. The blend formulations, chemicals solutions and design parameters are all responsible to make resin adhesive employ for particular applications. Two main considerations to get the benefit out of resin anchor are: - The bond formed using resin adhesive for the bolts is of higher in strength as compared to the substrate surface. - Chemical adhesion is present in the bond which means no load stress and this can be helpful to implement resin anchor in close to fix edge applications. Thus, resin anchor plays big role in the civil engineering industry where durable and extreme heavy duty fixing is one of the main objectives to be achieved.
